In the spring of 2018 I visited Morocco with a friend of mine. Naive as we were, we were going for an 'ultimate Morocco experience', even though we had no idea what that would look like. We wanted to avoid the touristic tours but still ended up in a guided tour through the desert. We drove from hotspot to hotspot and drank tea with ‘the original Berber people’. It felt like as if the Berber culture had become a sales product. In this project, we enlarged this phenomenon of commercialising a culture and questioned if we could provide people with an ‘authentic’ desert experience in the Netherlands.
